W.N.O... Aka Witches NIght Out!

As everyone knows, Nick and I just moved into a new home! (SO EXCITING!!!) AND with the new home, means a new ward. I was so nervous to move into a new ward and get to know a whole bunch of new people! Tuesday night, Nick and I were home, just watching a movie (ok, I was actually sleeping on the couch) and someone knocked on our door. It was about 9:40 pm. I was so out of it that I had NO clue what was going on. So, Nick got up and answered the door. There were three of the sweetest girls from our ward. Every year they have a ladies-only halloween party. They had come to bring me an invitation! SO THOUGHTFUL! The plans were for tonight, Thursday. Every year, all of the ladies dress up in their best witch costume and go out to eat at Johnny Carino's. I couldn't wait to go from the second they told me about it! So Wednesday I made the preparations for my witch costume. I made a tutu out of tulle, wore purple and striped tights, and shredded my shirt. AND I can't forget the witches hat! The outfit turned out so cute! We had a really good turnout and the night was a BLAST!!! It was so good for me to get out of the house and spend an evening with such a fun group of women!!! THANKS SO MUCH Katie, Amy, and Lauren for the invite! You guys are the best! Here are some cute pics from the night.

House Update

Here is another update on our home! FINALLY!!!! I can't even believe it's finally here, but our house is 99% done! I can't say 100% because there are a few odds and ends that need to be finished like touch-up paint but it's SO close to being done it's CrAzY! I never thought it would actually be here, but it is! And let me just say, that it is better than we EVER imagined! It has been so much fun to be able to watch everything progress, and we've honestly loved every minute of it! I have a lot of pictures, so I'm going to attempt putting together a slide show... Wish me luck!

Another Update

Sorry guys... I've been a little slow... again! Gawl! Sometimes it's just hard to find time to update this thing! Ok, here's what's been going on in the life of Nick and Kelsey.
The weekend of July 24th, we went to the annual Karlson Family Reunion at Cherry Hills in Utah. It is always such a blast to be able to go and hang out with the fam. We always have a blast! Cherry Hill is a little campground/water park/mini-golf/batting cages/ etc. It is SO much fun! We always have a golf tournament. Me and Nick were in charge of it this year, and even though it was extremely hectic, it was a lot of fun. We also added something new this year. My Grandma had the idea to have pinewood derby races. And, of course, I WON THE WOMEN'S HEAT!!!! IN YOUR FACE GIRLS! haha I'm just kidding. It was a blast though. I only got punched in the head once by my dad on Cardiac Canyon, and kicked in the head by Nick, once again on cardiac canyon! OH! and I can't forget the HUGE wind/rain/thunder/lightning storm. We had our tent STAKED to the ground and the wind ripped the stakes out of the ground, causing our tent to collapse on top of us. GREAT! Needless to say, Nick and I had a fantastic night sleep in the trusty Land Rover. What a fun weekend!

Also, our house is now sheetrocked, textured, trimmed and getting primed this week. Then we paint the color and install the hardwood next week. Then tile, cabinets, countertops, electrical, rock, siding......!!!! OH MY HECK!!! We're moving right along and we can't even WAIT!!! I think it's safe to say we're a little excited (PROOF: I honestly DREAM about our house every single night... not kidding.... I think I'm just a little bit ready). Sorry about the "no pictures" again. I promise I'll take some and post them soon!

P.S. We REALLY need some painters, so if you're really bored next week, COME ON OVER!!! :]

Our cRaZy CASA!

Sorry there aren't any pictures, but I've taken some recent ones and the house pictures all look the same. So here's an update on where we're at. The house is completely framed. It has shingles, windows, and exterior doors. Last week we did all the electrical and put in the sound system. We got to pick where we wanted all of our lights, light switches (yay...), and outlets (yay...)! We also picked out our wood for our floors and we LOVE it! We got a really good deal too (the best part). We chose 5 inch planks of Black Walnut. It's a dark brown wood with a lot of color variation. We also went and looked at tile. This week they are installing insulation and sheetrock. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! WOW!!! We're movin' right along! (But... I wish it could maybe go just a little bit faster...) After that? I'm not really sure! But stay tuned for more on the HIGHAM HOME!!!

Now on another note... I'M AN AUNT ONCE AGAIN!!! Little baby Afton Lanette Barney was born Monday July 13, 2009 at 4:06 a.m.! After 30 looong hours of labor with NO epidural (can you believe it?!) she FINALLY arrived! She is just over 6 lbs. with the cutest little face and tons of hair!! And can I just say that my sister is THE strongest person I've ever met?! She's one incredible woman!
AND, last but not least... KEVIN's home!!! Elder Kevin Barnard returned from his mission in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday night! He's lookin' great! A little skinny, but other than that he's good! WE LOVE YOU KEVIN! You have truly returned with honor!

UPDATE!

Wow! It has DEFINITELY been awhile. Sorry people... I've had a lot of people ask me to update our blog so you can see pictures of the house. So here ya go!

Here's where we're at. Our foundation was poured. The load bearing in the basement were framed in. We have our window wells (Yay ;]) Our floor is in and all of the walls upstairs are framed. My brother-in-law, Russ, (Devrie's husband) is our framer. They're actually building a new home right now too so Russ says the race is on! haha Too bad he has alot of influence on how fast our house gets framed! :] He's been a really good sport to put his own house on hold just so he can work on ours. THANKS RUSS! You're an AWESOME brother-in-law (sometimes...)! Now we're just waiting for the details inside, like archways, and then sheeting and then roof! It's moving along so fast and we're lovin' it! It's so exciting to be able to go everyday and see how things have changed! We're supposed to be moved in in September (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!) and I can't WAIT!

Next item of business...

As you all know, Nick is a very avid golfer (VERY VERY avid). He loves it so much and doesn't enjoy anything more than being able to go to a nice course and play a round with his family and friends. He got the opportunity to be a Golf Digest Panelist. Basically Golf Digest sends him a card that gets him onto WAY nice courses for way cheap, and most of the time free. All he has to do is play his little heart out and then rate the course. He really enjoys it. This is his second year and since he's played most of the courses around here, we're starting to travel to other courses. Last weekend we went to Deer Lodge, Montana and played a private course there. He played with his dad, his brother, and one of his friends. I got to tag along as their "photographer". It was alot of fun!

And, last but not least, I just have to brag a little. Shalay is due with a little baby girl on July 6th and I can't WAIT to see her little angel face! Me and my sisters have always been way close and we got the opportunity to throw her her very first baby shower! It was a lot of fun! Our cousin had given Shalay an old baby crib that she had that she wasn't going to use. Shalay really likes the colors black, red and white and the crib was brown. So one day I decided I was going to steal her crib and change it up for her! And of course I had to get Dev in on the idea too! So we stole the crib, painted it black, antiqued it, and then covered the back with a CUTE black and white fabric. Then Teresa made red bumper pads to match! It turned out SO cute and everyone loved it! Especially Shalay. Here's a pic!

So there's an update for everyone! I hope you enjoyed it! STAY TUNED!!! MORE TO COME!

:(

WARNING: WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO READ MAY BE EXTREMELY DEPRESSING......
Ok, so maybe not for everyone else, but for me, this post is definitely going to be depressing! Nick got a job with Volm Bag Co. in Idaho Falls, which is REALLY exciting, but with the new job comes training. This week and next, ya that's right, the FOURTH through the FIFTEENTH, Nick is in Wisconsin... BOO! :( I might be being a baby but I don't care. I miss him so much! It's crazy! He's been gone before on golf trips and things but for some reason this trip has been alot harder on me than any of those trips! I'm just praying that these two weeks will fly by... (Cross your fingers.....) I guess the good thing about this trip is that Nick will have alot of free time which means alot of golf! This Saturday he gets to go to 4 of the top 20 courses in the nation. And OH is he lovin' it! Plus he's pretty psyched about having 2 beds and 8 pillows in his hotel room ALL to himself! Haha I love ya hun and I can't WAIT for you to come back!!! :]

OH! And I better give everyone an update on the house. Our plans just got approved by the HOA in CarriageGate which means everything's a go! We just got our final plans today and we apply for the permit this week. Our builder, Leland Jensen, said we should have the permit by the beginning of next week so HOPEFULLY we'll have a hole dug by the end of next week!!!! YAY!!!!
