Going Private

Hi everyone! So, since I had Makoy, I've become a paranoid freak! It's kind of annoying. So, I'm going private. If you would like an invite to my blog, just leave your email and I'll send you one!
Thanks!

Kent's Farewell

Last Sunday was my brother, Kent's, farewell. As always it was bittersweet. We are so proud of him for going on a mission. He will be serving in the Albania mission. He enters the MTC on Wednesday, stays there for 3 months, and will then be going to Albania! It's so crazy! We will definitely miss him, but he is going to make one amazing missionary. We love you Kent!
We also took one last family picture before Kent left. This is my immediate family. You could say it's a little big...... (p.s. I love that my nephew is throwing up the peace sign... HAHA)

Amazing Men

I just wanted to write a quick post about the amazing men in my life. I am so grateful for them and for everything they do for me.
First, I want to brag about the #1 man in my life, my Hubby. Nick is such an amazing dad. He is soo good with Makoy! I could have never imagined that my husband would be so good with our kids. He loves him so much and I'm blessed to get to witness that love every day. Everyone always says "mother's intuition"... well, I think in our family, it's father's intuition! He always seems to know what Makoy needs. It's such a relief when I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. Perfect example: Nick has been traveling for work quite a bit lately. The past few nights Makoy has been really restless and hasn't really ever gone into a deep sleep. That leads to a really long, frustrating night. Well, I just thought maybe it was because Nick was gone. Nick got home last night and I was planning on getting some good shut eye finally. WRONG! Makoy did the same thing again! Just whiney and crying, just seeming really uncomfortable. I tried everything I could think of and I finally just told Nick we were going to have to let him cry. I couldn't do it anymore. Nick asked me if I thought he was getting more teeth. DUH! I'm an idiot and I never thought of that. Makoy did this exact same thing last time he was teething. So, we gave him some Tylenol and BOOM! in 30 minutes, he was out. Nick is amazing! I love him so much and I couldn't have asked for a better husband.
Next on the list, Makoy! I just love this little boy! He brings so much joy into our home. He is such a good baby. We are very blessed. He is getting so big and it's been really bitter sweet. He turned 7 MONTHS on Sunday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I love you Makoy! (P.S. Maybe just slow the growing down a little bit)
#3, My Dad. He is such an incredible man. He is a very hard worker and tries his best to make sure everyone in our family have what they need. He is always so willing to let me stay at his house when Nick leaves and I honestly appreciate it so much. I love the relationship I have with my dad and I'm so grateful for him. Love you so much dad!
That's it for my brag fest. I guess I was just feeling pretty proud of the incredible men in my life. Oh! and trust me, there are many MANY more men in my life I am grateful for. Brothers, Brother-in-laws, Father-in-laws, grandpas, uncles. Love you all! Thanks for all you do for me and my family.

Bodies.......

Last night Nick was out of town and I was home alone. My sister, Shalay, called and invited me to go to the Bodies Exhibit at the Museum of Idaho Falls. I was SO excited to go! (Ok, maybe a little nervous, but excited) It was AWESOME! I didn't think it was gross at all. It was actually really interesting. I learned a lot about our bodies that I never knew. They display every part of the body from the muscles to blood vessels to organs. They even had a section that showed how babies are developed inside the womb. I'll admit, I couldn't go in. Me and Shalay were pretty nervous but when Dan (her husband) came out and said it wasn't bad, we decided to give it a try. We walked in and saw the first fetus and I turned around and hauled butt outta there! I couldn't handle it. Maybe I'm a wimp. Anyways, for all of you that live in the Idaho Falls area, I strongly recommend going! It's awesome! Thanks Shalay and Dan for the invite!

Sleepless Nights......

(This is how I feel)

Yes, that's right. Every night for the last week have been just that: sleepless. Here's the story.
Before I had Makoy, I swore that I would never let him sleep in our bed. Well, that went out the window after the first night home. We put him in his bassinet and Nick layed in bed clicking a flashlight on and off, on and off, until I finally got Makoy and put him in our bed. We had so many people tell us to get him out of our bed, but of course, I didn't listen. I figured we'd get him out when we were ready and it would be easy since he was so little. WRONG! Last week I decided it was time to put him in his crib. My sister, Devrie, told me it would be hard but that I just needed to stick with it. The first night was horrible. Makoy woke up 15-20 times. I slept in his room on the floor. The second night he woke up 8 times. The third and fourth nights, 4 times. I was so excited because he was improving at least. The past couple of nights he has reverted back and has been waking up at least 8 times a night. It's SO hard but hopefully worth it... If any of you have any advice, I'll take it! We aren't willing to let him "cry it out" yet. I don't feel like he's old enough. Any other ideas? Hopefully he'll get the hang of it and I'll be able to get a little shuteye soon. Wish me luck!

Valentines 2011

Valentines this year was.... bittersweet. I know it's all in your attitude, but I think after reading this post, you'll understand what I mean. Sunday morning, we woke up to get ready for church and Makoy had a terrible cough. We decided not to go to church so that we didn't get everyone else sick and so that he wouldn't get more sick. Me, being the paranoid mom that I am, immediately guessed it was RSV. I was terrified. I told Nick that if he still had it Monday that I would take him to the doctor. Well, Sunday night was not so good. Makoy wouldn't sleep unless I was holding him. So, that's what I did. All. Night. Long. I was exhausted and so was he. Monday morning, Valentines, we woke up and Makoy's cough was worse. So, we headed to the doctor. LUCKILY, it's not RSV. Just a cold. THANK GOODNESS! The rest of the day was pretty boring. That night, Nick's parents came to watch Makoy so Nick and I could have a Valentines date. As we were walking out of the house, Nick met me with a dozen roses. I love flowers! It was so sweet. (ok... I may have had to drop a few hints...) Thanks honey! We headed to Outback. There was a 45 minute wait at 5:30 and we didn't want to wait that long, so we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Pachangas. (If you haven't been there, you are SERIOUSLY missing out! It's heaven.) We had a really great dinner and dessert. I posted a pic because I thought it was cute! ha. Then we went to a movie at Edwards Theater. We watched Just Go With It with Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler. It was sooo good! Nick and I both loved it. As a matter of fact, Nick is not one to buy movies, but as we were walking out of the movie he said "We will definitely be buying that one!" It was really really good.
Here comes the best part of the night.... we left the theater and walked out to the car. As Nick was opening my door, I was looking at the car and noticed something a little strange... My heart dropped. OUR CAR HAD BEEN KEYED!!! TWICE!!! The jerks got every single panel of Nick's brand new car, ALONG with the hood! I was pissed. Honestly, if I could find those kids, I'd probably run them over. I was so mad and so was Nick. So, we called the police so we could get a case number to file with our insurance. Of course, we had to wait for the cop for TWENTY MINUTES!!! Again, PISSED! He finally showed up and took pictures of our car. We had told Nick's parents we'd be home at 10. We got home around 11:45. Sorry Highams.... Anyways, that was our day. Now do you understand what I mean by bittersweet? Our date was amazing! Having our car keyed, not so much. And you jerks who did it... YOU BETTER WATCH YOUR BACK!!
Happy Valentines
