It's Been Awhile.....

I know it's been forever since I've posted!  I just have about a million pictures I'm trying to go through/pick from and it's taking awhile.  Just a quick update, Christmas and New Years was great!  Busy, but great!  It flew by.  Makoy is now 16 almost 17 months old!! I can't believe it!  He has 12 teeth and is working on some more.  He is so active and busy and is really starting to talk.  His favorite words; No and Ball.  The first one is my favorite...... (eye roll)  He is running like crazy and exploring everything he can get his little hands on or into.  He loves to climb on everything too.  He's such a good boy and the happiest kid I know!  We love him!  We also added another member to our family.  Her name is Remi and she is a Goldendoodle.  She is the best dog!  She's still a puppy, so we're kind of struggling with the chewing, but she has been so good with Makoy.  His favorite thing to do is ride her.  Oh boy.....  Anyways, that's a quick update.  I'll get some more details and pictures on here soon!

Makoy is 1!

My little boy (ok, maybe not so little anymore) is ONE!! I can't believe it!  Makoy's birthday was September 10th.  The last year has absolutely flown by!  We love him more and more each day!
Makoy, we are so blessed to have you in our family!  You are seriously the best kid!  Love ya!
Lovin' his new train set

Dad and the Birthday Boy!

We got Mak his very first set of golf clubs.  That's a pretty big deal if you're in the Higham family!  As you can tell, he loved it!

We had a bouncy house at the party.  It was a big hit!

Mom and the Birthday boy!  Geez I LUB him!

This is one of Makoy's infamous faces.  I just had to let everyone see it.

Makoy LOVED his cake! I was a little nervous that he wouldn't like it, but he dove right in!

Makoy at 1:
-Weighs about 24 pounds
-Is in the 78th percentile in height
-Is a walkin' machine!
-Loves any kind of ball
-Has his very own language and jibber-jabbers all day long
-Is soo happy most of the time
-Has figured out how to throw tantrums (great.....)
-Loves the tupperware cupboard
-Loves to explore and learn about everything
-Can go up and down stairs like a champ
-Can say "Dada"& "Mama"
-Knows what a monkey is and what sound it makes
-TONS OF OTHER STUFF!  My list could go on and on.
-Is pretty darn amazing!

We seriously are the luckiest!  I can't believe my baby's one, but I can't wait for a lot of fun adventures we have ahead of us!  Love you MAK!

Smart Little Boy

So, right now Makoy is at the get-into-everything stage. It's great......... (Can you sense the sarcasm?) Don't get me wrong. I love to see him explore and learn new things all the time, but it gets a little tiring after I've cleaned up the movies (or pots and pans or tupperware or anything else you can imagine) 67 times a day! I felt like I had it under control when I rubber-banded every cabinet shut. Then he grew and he is now tall enough to reach the top of the entertainment center and dresser. I have a few decorations on my entertainment center that are meant to be out of reach for little Makster. Let me set up the scenario. Makoy's toy basket is right next to the entertainment center and he figured out that if he climbs inside of it, on top of all his toys, he can reach the so-called out-of-reach decorations. Well, I thought I'd put an end to that real fast by moving his toy basket. Next thing I know, he's climbed on top of his Bumbo... GREAT! So, I just moved that too. I was in the kitchen doing dishes and heard a crash in the living room. I look over to see that he has moved his Bumbo back over to the entertainment center and is pulling decorations off of it! So, now he pushes his Bumbo around, climbs on top, and gets into whatever his little heart desires... GREAT! I think it's a little too early to be out-smarting the momma......

What We've Been Up To Lately....

I don't know about your summers, but our summers are SOOOO busy! I feel like we're never home! Here are a few pics to sum up what we've been up to lately.
Dev's probably going to kill me for putting this pic on here, but I love it. Her and her boys came to our house the other day to play. We love it when the Jensen's come to play!

Mak has gotten so big and has outgrown all of his blankets. So I decided to make him a couple of new ones. This is one of them. I thought it turned out pretty darn cute.

I love this picture. One day while we were eating dinner, Makoy was just staring at me and opening and closing his mouth like a little bird! I decided this would be a good idea. He loves corn on the cob! Now every time I cook it, I have to make one just for him.

Nick and Makoy watching the fireworks. He loved them! He just stared and stared.

This is where Makoy hangs out every day while I get ready. Haha Love him!

This was one day while me and Mak were hanging out at home. He found Nick's Super Soaker and couldn't get enough. He loves guns, just like his dad.
Playing golf at the Country Club. Makoy LOVES to sit by the hole and get the balls.

Nick's golf tournaments. Can't call it summer without lots of golf!
(This one was last weekend. His mom Caddied for him for 3 DAYS!)

There has definitely been a lot more going on, but this is all I have time to post right now!
Hope all of your summer's are as great as ours!

Mak Attack

Before I start my brag fest, I just wanted to remind everybody that I am going private. I'll probably switch at the end of June so if you haven't left your email address already, please do so I can send you an invite!
OK, It's been awhile since I've posted anything about our little Mak Attack! He is getting so big so fast and I'm not sure I'm lovin' it. He is army crawling like crazy and crawls for real when he's on carpet. (Which kind of sucks because our entire house is hardwood.....) He likes to pull himself up next to things and stand there. He has 6 teeth. He is in the 69th percentile in height and 65th in weight. He is a BIG boy! We have been letting Makoy "cry it out" for about a week now and he is doing so so awesome. He sleeps from about 9 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. It's AWESOME! He is super busy and loves to play play play. His favorite thing right now is Nick. We love him so so much!
By the way, I am entering Makoy in the Next Gerber Baby photo contest. I'll let everyone know when. I would really really appreciate it if you would go and vote for him and tell all of your friends to vote for him too. You can vote the entire month of July. THANKS!

Going Private

Hi everyone! So, since I had Makoy, I've become a paranoid freak! It's kind of annoying. So, I'm going private. If you would like an invite to my blog, just leave your email and I'll send you one!
Thanks!

Kent's Farewell

Last Sunday was my brother, Kent's, farewell. As always it was bittersweet. We are so proud of him for going on a mission. He will be serving in the Albania mission. He enters the MTC on Wednesday, stays there for 3 months, and will then be going to Albania! It's so crazy! We will definitely miss him, but he is going to make one amazing missionary. We love you Kent!
We also took one last family picture before Kent left. This is my immediate family. You could say it's a little big...... (p.s. I love that my nephew is throwing up the peace sign... HAHA)

Amazing Men

I just wanted to write a quick post about the amazing men in my life. I am so grateful for them and for everything they do for me.
First, I want to brag about the #1 man in my life, my Hubby. Nick is such an amazing dad. He is soo good with Makoy! I could have never imagined that my husband would be so good with our kids. He loves him so much and I'm blessed to get to witness that love every day. Everyone always says "mother's intuition"... well, I think in our family, it's father's intuition! He always seems to know what Makoy needs. It's such a relief when I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. Perfect example: Nick has been traveling for work quite a bit lately. The past few nights Makoy has been really restless and hasn't really ever gone into a deep sleep. That leads to a really long, frustrating night. Well, I just thought maybe it was because Nick was gone. Nick got home last night and I was planning on getting some good shut eye finally. WRONG! Makoy did the same thing again! Just whiney and crying, just seeming really uncomfortable. I tried everything I could think of and I finally just told Nick we were going to have to let him cry. I couldn't do it anymore. Nick asked me if I thought he was getting more teeth. DUH! I'm an idiot and I never thought of that. Makoy did this exact same thing last time he was teething. So, we gave him some Tylenol and BOOM! in 30 minutes, he was out. Nick is amazing! I love him so much and I couldn't have asked for a better husband.
Next on the list, Makoy! I just love this little boy! He brings so much joy into our home. He is such a good baby. We are very blessed. He is getting so big and it's been really bitter sweet. He turned 7 MONTHS on Sunday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I love you Makoy! (P.S. Maybe just slow the growing down a little bit)
#3, My Dad. He is such an incredible man. He is a very hard worker and tries his best to make sure everyone in our family have what they need. He is always so willing to let me stay at his house when Nick leaves and I honestly appreciate it so much. I love the relationship I have with my dad and I'm so grateful for him. Love you so much dad!
That's it for my brag fest. I guess I was just feeling pretty proud of the incredible men in my life. Oh! and trust me, there are many MANY more men in my life I am grateful for. Brothers, Brother-in-laws, Father-in-laws, grandpas, uncles. Love you all! Thanks for all you do for me and my family.

Bodies.......

Last night Nick was out of town and I was home alone. My sister, Shalay, called and invited me to go to the Bodies Exhibit at the Museum of Idaho Falls. I was SO excited to go! (Ok, maybe a little nervous, but excited) It was AWESOME! I didn't think it was gross at all. It was actually really interesting. I learned a lot about our bodies that I never knew. They display every part of the body from the muscles to blood vessels to organs. They even had a section that showed how babies are developed inside the womb. I'll admit, I couldn't go in. Me and Shalay were pretty nervous but when Dan (her husband) came out and said it wasn't bad, we decided to give it a try. We walked in and saw the first fetus and I turned around and hauled butt outta there! I couldn't handle it. Maybe I'm a wimp. Anyways, for all of you that live in the Idaho Falls area, I strongly recommend going! It's awesome! Thanks Shalay and Dan for the invite!

Sleepless Nights......

(This is how I feel)

Yes, that's right. Every night for the last week have been just that: sleepless. Here's the story.
Before I had Makoy, I swore that I would never let him sleep in our bed. Well, that went out the window after the first night home. We put him in his bassinet and Nick layed in bed clicking a flashlight on and off, on and off, until I finally got Makoy and put him in our bed. We had so many people tell us to get him out of our bed, but of course, I didn't listen. I figured we'd get him out when we were ready and it would be easy since he was so little. WRONG! Last week I decided it was time to put him in his crib. My sister, Devrie, told me it would be hard but that I just needed to stick with it. The first night was horrible. Makoy woke up 15-20 times. I slept in his room on the floor. The second night he woke up 8 times. The third and fourth nights, 4 times. I was so excited because he was improving at least. The past couple of nights he has reverted back and has been waking up at least 8 times a night. It's SO hard but hopefully worth it... If any of you have any advice, I'll take it! We aren't willing to let him "cry it out" yet. I don't feel like he's old enough. Any other ideas? Hopefully he'll get the hang of it and I'll be able to get a little shuteye soon. Wish me luck!

Valentines 2011

Valentines this year was.... bittersweet. I know it's all in your attitude, but I think after reading this post, you'll understand what I mean. Sunday morning, we woke up to get ready for church and Makoy had a terrible cough. We decided not to go to church so that we didn't get everyone else sick and so that he wouldn't get more sick. Me, being the paranoid mom that I am, immediately guessed it was RSV. I was terrified. I told Nick that if he still had it Monday that I would take him to the doctor. Well, Sunday night was not so good. Makoy wouldn't sleep unless I was holding him. So, that's what I did. All. Night. Long. I was exhausted and so was he. Monday morning, Valentines, we woke up and Makoy's cough was worse. So, we headed to the doctor. LUCKILY, it's not RSV. Just a cold. THANK GOODNESS! The rest of the day was pretty boring. That night, Nick's parents came to watch Makoy so Nick and I could have a Valentines date. As we were walking out of the house, Nick met me with a dozen roses. I love flowers! It was so sweet. (ok... I may have had to drop a few hints...) Thanks honey! We headed to Outback. There was a 45 minute wait at 5:30 and we didn't want to wait that long, so we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Pachangas. (If you haven't been there, you are SERIOUSLY missing out! It's heaven.) We had a really great dinner and dessert. I posted a pic because I thought it was cute! ha. Then we went to a movie at Edwards Theater. We watched Just Go With It with Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler. It was sooo good! Nick and I both loved it. As a matter of fact, Nick is not one to buy movies, but as we were walking out of the movie he said "We will definitely be buying that one!" It was really really good.
Here comes the best part of the night.... we left the theater and walked out to the car. As Nick was opening my door, I was looking at the car and noticed something a little strange... My heart dropped. OUR CAR HAD BEEN KEYED!!! TWICE!!! The jerks got every single panel of Nick's brand new car, ALONG with the hood! I was pissed. Honestly, if I could find those kids, I'd probably run them over. I was so mad and so was Nick. So, we called the police so we could get a case number to file with our insurance. Of course, we had to wait for the cop for TWENTY MINUTES!!! Again, PISSED! He finally showed up and took pictures of our car. We had told Nick's parents we'd be home at 10. We got home around 11:45. Sorry Highams.... Anyways, that was our day. Now do you understand what I mean by bittersweet? Our date was amazing! Having our car keyed, not so much. And you jerks who did it... YOU BETTER WATCH YOUR BACK!!
Happy Valentines

Catching Up

Wow! I feel like it's been forever since I last wrote on this thing! Oh wait! IT HAS BEEN FOREVER!!! We haven't had internet for like 2 months and we are finally reconnected. There probably won't be any pictures on this post because I'm so behind. If I put all of the pictures we have taken on here, there would be about 200. A lot has happened in the last 3 months! Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, plus all things Makoy. Here is a quick update.

  • Thanksgiving: This year we spent Thanksgiving with Nick's family. It is tradition to have Thanksgiving at the Higham cabin in Swan Valley. We headed up Wednesday night and stayed 'til Friday. It was a lot of fun.
  • Makoy turned 3 MONTHS OLD!!! Can you believe it? I can't.
  • Christmas: Our Christmases, just like everyone elses, are crazy! We had about 8 different parties and were constantly running, running, running. We had Christmas morning at our house with just us 3. It was Makoy's 1st Christmas. We didn't get him much because he's so small, but it was still fun. He actually slept the entire time we opened our gifts. After opening our gifts, we headed down to Joe L. and Karlene's to talk to Tanner and open gifts with them. Everyone got to talk to Tanner and it was SO good to hear from him. We talked for a total of 3 hours. He sounded really great. Then we opened gifts and we DEFINITELY got spoiled rotten! Thanks Highams! We appreciate all you do!! After the Higham's house, we headed down to my dad's house for the Merrill Christmas party. We at Prime Rib. It was delish! Our family doesn't do a gift exchange except for the grandkids. Instead, we all bring something to share. It can be a song, an interesting piece of information you have come across, a game, anything you want. This year Nick and I shared Minute to Win it! It was a blast! The whole family were laughing their heads off. It was definitely hilarious. We have some pretty funny pictures. Nothing like a little competition to help the bonding process, right? That pretty much sums up our Christmas. It was so fun and we can't wait for next year!
  • New Years: We usually don't do anything special for New Years, but this year, one of Nick's clients invited us up to his cabin on Bill's Island in Island Park. It was HUGE! We stayed up late, chatting and playing games. It was alot of fun.
  • Makoy turned 4 MONTHS OLD! Holy CRAP! Makoy weighed 15 lbs. and was 25.5 inches tall. He's a big boy. I feel like he gets bigger every day. I don't like it! OH! and P.S. We still haven't cut his hair.....
  • We bought an IMac computer. And it's Kicking. My. Butt. I haven't quite figured out how to use this thing, but I'm getting more used to it slowly but surely. If any of you have any info on IMacs, I would LOVE some advice!
That pretty much sums everything up. We haven't been up to much. Nick's been traveling for work a little more than usual lately but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Nick is also playing in a couple of basketball leagues. He usually has games 2-3 times a week. It is so much fun to watch him. Makoy LOVES to watch too. I've just been staying at home, raising my little boy. It's so awesome and I'm blessed to be able to do it. That's all folks. Hopefully now that I have a computer and internet, I'll be able to keep this blog updated!

2 Months

I'm a little late posting this, but on November 10th, Makoy turned 2 MONTHS! I can't believe how fast the time has already gone! I swear he gets cuter and cuter every day! We just can't seem to get enough of him! Makoy is starting to get a little personality. He smiles like crazy and LOVES to "tell stories". He talks and talks and we love it. He is just starting to laugh. They are pretty rare, but we think it's the cutest thing we've ever heard! When we took him to the doctor for his checkup, he was 11 lbs. 6 oz. and 23 3/8 inches long. He's a little below average on weight and above average on height. Needless to say, our little boy is tall and skinny, just like his daddy! Makoy loves his baths and loves to snuggle. He is sleeping pretty good at night and only wakes up 1 or 2 times. He is such a good baby. We LOVE our boy!

Blessing Day

Last Sunday, November 7th, was Makoy's Blessing Day. It was such a good day! Nick and I were both really stressed out and nervous about everything, but it couldn't have gone better. Nick performed the blessing and did so awesome. There were 14 men in the circle. It was a BIIIG circle, but it really meant alot to have so much support. And Makoy did SO GOOD! He didn't even make a peep and even better, he didn't puke on his blessing outfit! HA! After the blessing we had a brunch at our house. We ate cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, and sweet breads. Our house isn't the biggest, so we were a little crammed, but it was so much fun to have everyone here. Everything went so smooth. It was such a good day. We love Makoy so much! We couldn't have had a more perfect day for a perfect little boy. Here are a few pics.

I LOVE this boy! I seriously can't get enough!

I feel so blessed to have this sweet little boy in our life. I am so grateful that Nick is a worthy priesthood holder and that he was able to give Makoy such a special blessing. I am one lucky girl. This was such a special day in my life, and I will NEVER forget it!

I love you Nick. I love you Makoy.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Happy Halloween Everybody! This year's Halloween was so much fun! It was a blast to dress Makoy up in his little costume. As usual, he was ADORABLE! We took him to Grandpa Joe and Grandma Karlene's house, then down to Blackfoot to see the Merrill Clan. I always love to see all of the cute kids in their costumes. Here are a few pictures from the night. Isn't he ADORABLE?! He's our little football.
Happy Halloween!!

1 MONTH

HOLY COW! I can't even believe it! Our sweet little boy is 1 MONTH OLD!!! This last month has seriously flown by! It has probably been one of the best/hardest months of our lives, but we've loved every second (minus the ones when Makoy is screaming his head off!) HA! Makoy is getting more and more alert and active every day. He is just starting to smile at us and coo a little bit. His favorite thing to do is grunt and grunt like a little piglet. He loves to lay on the couch and kick his little legs off. He seems like he is growing so fast! He is so long and skinny. His clothes are all too short and if I put a bigger size on him, they are too wide, but long enough. We love him SO much! More than we could have ever imagined. He brings so much joy into our lives. WE LOVE YOU MAKOY!! Happy 1 MONTH birthday!
